Our songs

We spent the evening listening to songs.

Throughout the drive

Every instance one of us played a song,

The other rejoiced

'It's my favourite song'.

For a moment

We just sat still,

To realise

How precious it is

To meet someone exactly like you,

Until I played a song

You didn't relish.

We continued the rest of the journey

Singing our songs.

The moment I dropped you home

I replayed the one you sulked about,

Rolled down the window

And let the city sing with me.

I still love you

Maybe a little more than I am capable of loving,

But I would be lying to say

You are the first lover or even the last.

I have learnt this the hard way

And I want to remember this for life

"I Create My Joy" if tomorrow you were to leave

You can take away your songs

But I will still have mine.
